| The Kings heart is in the hand of the Lord, like the rivers of water; He turns it wherever He wishes. Proverbs 21:21 Dear Fellow Homeschoolers: We really appreciate your overwhelming response to the E-Newsletter alert sent out on April 12, 2002. We hope your action is having a profound effect. Legislators have told us that 10 contacts on an issue is a notable response. Two hundred and sixty-five (265) emails were sent to us. Many of these stated they made between 3-6 phone calls and/or sent email. As of this moment, we are still receiving emails. Our hope is that your response is changing the course that a new homeschool law may take. Please continue to pray. God alone is in charge of the future. We continue to work for a short, unambiguous law that emphasizes parental rights, responsibilities and freedoms. When we hear and see a bill (a proposal that has been through the Legislative Reference Bureau [LRB], has a number, and is thus a bill), we will let you know. Your calls, which were directed toward a proposal, not a formal bill or law, may result in a better proposal for a bill. We are now hoping and praying that a proposal that has the above characteristics may be introduced sometime in the next three to four weeks. There is great pressure on the representatives to settle for a politically palatable bill rather than one that emphasizes biblical parental rights, responsibilities and freedoms. May we all look unto Him for direction. When we believe we have that direction, may we be granted the courage and strength to move in that way. Should a bill be forth coming, we will issue informative emails through the CHAP E-Newsletter. Updates will also be posted on the CHAP website (http://www.chapboard.org) on the Legislative Update page. The CHAP Board thanks you again, Bruce and Mary Ann Eagleson, Clyde and Pam Gwin, Larry and Kim Huber, Doug and Nada Rothgaber, Jim and Robbie Warren, and all our children. They and your children are the reason for the journey! PS. We are sorry for the inconvenience. The fax number for Rep. Petrarca is incorrect. |
